Bless me audiophiles for I have sinned. It has been 3 days since my last concert confession.
Thunderstorm. Weather event. Stratospheric electric light show. Whatever a meteorologist would call it; that was happening on stage that night at this J.Roddy Walston & The Business show. Maintaining that kind of energy and being a spectator of it are simultaneously and almost equally (I'm guessing) exhausting to do/witness. Unless you are an 8-ball or two deep...which I can say with 100% certainty that I was not...the band on the other hand...I'm less sure about. I went to this one with an old friend from ad school (that's grad school for advertising creatives if you're not familiar) that I hadn't seen since 2008. I'm not sure if he was QUITE as into as it I was, mostly based on the fact that I didn't stop moving for the duration of the entire set and he kind of just stood there and bobbed his head. Regardless; great fckn show. Regardless of my friend and I drifting apart, it was still a good thing to have someone to go out to shows with at that point in time. Making adjustments to new cities or readjusting to an old one is definitely not meant to be a solo act. You need a The Business to your J.Roddy Walston.
